Roller jib covers / Genoa cover:

What is the warranty period on your products?Ā

Saliseal offers a 3-year warranty on all products. Of course, the expected lifespan is much longer.

How can I customize the roller jib cover?

Our roller jib covers can be shortened by 70 cm in length. The cover has a wide strip of Velcro on the lower part on the inside which holds very well. So you simply fold the cover inward against the Velcro. At the front, you can move the eye to multiple positions so that the lines and the cover itself can always be securely fastened. The width is adjustable by default because the cover tightens when you tension the lines.

What kind of lines do you use for the roller jib cover?

We use a woven tipolest line specially designed for this so that the line never kinks or gets tangled. The lifespan of this line is very long; we have been using it ourselves for at least 10 years without ever having to replace it.

FAQ Lazybag Maindrop

Lazybag Maindrop system:

How do I adjust the lazybag maindrop cover lengthwise?

The cover you attach to the boom does not extend all the way to the mast. There is a gap between the cover and the mast which is separately covered by the head cover. The adjustment is therefore in the overlap of the head cover.

The head cover of the lazybag does not fit well; it is too large or too small. Can I exchange the head cover for another size?

Yes, you can, but first make sure you have measured the boom length correctly. If you have chosen the correct boom length and the head cover still does not fit well, you can try a size larger or smaller. Please contact us by email at info@saliseal.com for this.

How do I know if my sail fits in the cover?

There is an overview of sizes on the website under the product in the measuring section.

Are the lazy-jack lines included with the Lazybag maindrop?

No, not standard; you can order these separately. If you buy them together with a lazybag, you will receive a €60 discount.

I do not have pulleys in the mast yet; can I still mount your Lazybag?

Yes, however, you must mount 2 pulleys—one on port side and one on starboard side of the spreaders or mast. We prefer the spreaders as this keeps the cover more open.

Which sizes of lazybag are available?
  • XS
    Boom length 2.4 - 2.8 m
    mast circumference 38 - 41 cm
  • S
    Boom length 2.7 - 3.1 m
    mast circumference 44 - 53 cm
  • M
    Boom length 3.1 - 3.6 m
    mast circumference 52 - 63 cm
  • L
    Boom length 3.6 - 4.2 m
    mast circumference 59 - 72 cm
  • XL
    Boom length 4.2 - 4.6 m
    mast circumference 62 - 75 cm
  • Other sizes are possible; then choose alternative size in the product selection menu. You can then provide your measurements according to the measurement form and we will make the lazybag custom for you.

FAQ Steering Wheel Cover

Which materials are used for this steering wheel cover?

The cover is made of Masacryl Special (330 g/m²), a high-quality Spanish acrylic fabric from Sauleda. This material is UV-resistant, water-repellent, mold-resistant, and colorfast.

The seams are reinforced with PTFE Solarfix thread, which is extremely durable and resistant to UV radiation and salt water.Ā

How is the attachment constructed?

The cover has two zippers at the bottom and a Velcro closure from the steering column downwards, making it secure and easy to attach.Ā

What size do I need?

Saliseal offers a size chart based on diameter:

  • 60 cm (C-size 120 cm)

  • 70 cm (C-size 140 cm)

  • 80 cm (C-size 160 cm)

  • 90 cm (C-size 180 cm)

  • 100 cm (C-size 200 cm)

  • 110 cm (C-size 220 cm)

  • 120 cm (C-size 240 cm)

  • 130 cm (C-size 260 cm)Ā  You measure the C-circumference of your steering wheel, divide that by two, and add approximately 2.5 cm of allowance. For example:A steering wheel with a circumference of 215 cm → 215 / 2 + 2.5 = 110 cm → size 2XL.Ā
Are alternative colors or sizes possible?

Standard available in 5 colors. For an additional €125, you can have a custom alternative color made. Note: this custom work is non-returnable.Ā

Also, alternative sizes are possible for an additional charge.Ā

Are there extra costs if I live outside the EU?

Yes, import costs may apply for shipping outside the EU. You can calculate these using the HS code 6306.12.Ā

The VAT is only charged at checkout if you live outside the EU.Ā

FAQ Winch Cover

FAQ Biminitops

How do you choose the right size biminitop? (On the biminitops on our website you will also find a clear explanation with pictures)

Before ordering a bimini top, it is important to determine the correct length, height, and width. These measurements ensure that the top fits well on your boat and provides sufficient shade.

1. Length & Shade

The length (L) and height (H) determine how much shade the bimini top creates. Use a tape measure to see which length best provides the desired coverage.

2. Mounting points

First, look where you want to attach the bimini top and how much space there is in both the unfolded and folded positions. Make sure there is enough space to place the attachment eyes for the straps.

The main mounting point is approximately in the middle of the top, on both sides of the boat. Flat deck plates are supplied as standard; optionally, you can also choose railing or side mounting brackets.

3. Determining width

Measure the distance between the attachment points to determine the correct width (B). The frame is adjustable within the specified range.

Example: a size of 155–169 cm means that the top is 155 cm wide at the base but can be adjusted up to 169 cm. For stability, it is better to place the bottom slightly outward, although adjusting inward is also possible.

4. Determining height

Stand upright in the boat and measure upwards from the attachment points.

5. Extra attention for sailboats

Pay close attention with sailboats because there are more factors you need to consider. Ask yourself when you will use the bimini top. If you want to use the bimini top while sailing and the boom hangs above the bimini top, keep in mind that when you hoist the sail, you usually let the crane line down.

This causes the boom to hang lower, and especially if you are sailing close-hauled and have the mainsheet tightly pulled, the boom usually comes even lower. Also useful to consider is the mounting location.

Sailboats often have a raised cockpit edge. If you place the bimini top on the cockpit edge, it can significantly limit freedom of movement because there is a frame in the way. Usually, but not always, it is more convenient to place the bimini top on the outer edge of the side deck so you can always walk forward.

You may also need to take into account the backstay or double backstay. Often you place the bimini top in front of this stay, but sometimes that is inconvenient. We can also optionally make a two-way zipper in the middle of the bimini top between the tubes, so you can create more shade. If you have two stays, that is also possible, but you must measure very precisely how far apart these stays are at the highest point of the bimini top.

FAQ Sail Laundry and Repair

What does professional cleaning of a boat cover, boat tent, mainsail, genoa, spinnaker, or other canvas product cost?

The cleaning is done through a careful multi-day process. Your fabric is immersed several times in special baths with cleaning agents, loosening mold, dirt, green deposits, and bird droppings deep from the fibers. During this process, we spray the material several times with a pressure washer specially adjusted for canvas, so all contamination is safely removed.

After this intensive cleaning process, a thorough rinsing and a natural drying phase at a constant temperature of about 25 °C follow. Then we apply a high-quality impregnation layer, both inside and outside, so the fabric is optimally water-repellent and protected again.

Afterwards, the product is carefully inspected. We pay attention to seams that have been damaged by UV light. If necessary, these can be restitched, and it is also possible to replace windows, piping, zippers, and grab straps. Note: these repair works are not included in the cleaning price and are performed separately.

What is your repair rate?

Our hourly rate is €52.50 excluding VAT per hour, excluding material costs. To give you an example, stitching a dodger and replacing 3 windows usually takes us 2-4 hours of work. The window film costs 19 per running meter.

Afterwards, your boat cover, spinnaker, awning, or other canvas product will look fresh and well-maintained again, ready to last for many more years.

For repairing boat covers, roller furling covers, bimini tops or other products, we charge €52.50 excl. VAT per hour. On top of this, any material costs may apply.

The delivery time of the repair depends on the seasonal pressure but as a rule it will be around 3-4 weeks.

If your boat cover needs to be repaired combined with a cleaning, it will take longer.

What does it cost to renew a roller furling cover zipper?
  • Length up to 10 m €150
  • Length from 10 to 12 m €175
  • Length from 12 to 15 m €195
  • Length from 15 to 20 m €205
What does it cost to replace a zipper?

For replacing other zippers such as in tube tunnels, between the sprayhood and cockpit tent, windows, etc., it is the sales price of the zipper plus the time we need for it.

What is the delivery time for repairs?

The delivery time for repairs depends heavily on the time of year you submit the repair. Between September and February, it is manageable and usually about 3 weeks. From March, it often becomes a bit longer because the new boating season approaches. In May, June, and July, the waiting times are the longest, 4-5, sometimes even 6 weeks. Therefore, it is wise to submit your repair in the off-season or winter so you are sure to be ready in time for the new season.

Can I schedule my boat cover, cockpit tent, or other product that needs cleaning or repair so that when it's my turn, I get a notification from you and I can bring it in, so my boat is not left uncovered?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. We often receive this request, but it is not feasible for us to continuously schedule everyone, call them back, and often have to wait, which disrupts our work. Therefore, we have decided to no longer do this.
