Description

Shade cloth / Bimini-Top Sunshade / Sunroof /. Note this is only the fabric; no hardware is included.

The Saliseal Sunshade fabric is designed to create shade on boats. The fabric features 4 D-rings on the corners and several stainless steel rings around the edge. You can use this fabric in combination with the Saliseal Sunshade hardware.

The 4 sides are slightly curved so that the edges remain taut.

The Mehler Airtex fabric is a lightweight polyester fabric. This fabric is very strong and folds up compactly. See the colors in the photo.

If you use the fabric with the Saliseal Sunshade hardware, the size of the fabric must match the Sunshade deck plates or railing parts without poles. The poles are set at a 15-degree angle, which tightens the fabric.

The Saliseal Sunshade fabric can be made from Mehler Airtex.

Measuring

The size of the fabric depends on the height of the pole.

Step 1 measure: After mounting the deck sockets or railing parts, measure the distance between the holes where the poles will be placed, both length and width.

Step 2 determine fabric size: Suppose in step 1 you measured a length between the front and rear deck or railing socket of 198 cm and a width of 165 cm. Now that you know these dimensions, you must use the formula below to determine the correct size of the fabric.

Formula:

When using 4 poles with a pole height of 1215mm add 25 mm to all sides. The fabric will be 50 mm longer and wider than the measured distance in total. When using 2 poles and the fabric is attached to the boat on one side, then this is of course 1 x 25 mm.

When using 4 poles with a pole height of 1535 mm add 82.5 mm to all sides. The fabric will be 165 mm longer and wider than the measured distance in total. When using 2 poles and the fabric is attached to the boat on one side, then this is of course 1 x 82.5 mm.

When using 4 poles with a pole height of 1845 mm add 139.7 mm to all sides. The fabric will be 279.4 mm longer and wider than the measured distance in total. If you only use 2 poles and the fabric is attached to the boat on one side, then this is of course 1 x 139.7 mm.

NOTE: If you mount the system entirely on a railing, it is better to fix it at 4 points instead of 6 because the railing mounting brackets point outward at a 45-degree angle with a 15-degree tilt. In the middle between two poles, you only want the fabric to be pulled outward and not diagonally forward or backward. With pods in the deck, this is possible.

Step 3 fabric design: Now that you know all the dimensions, we can start designing the fabric. We have calculated the longest and widest measurements. These are actually the corner dimensions.

Between the corners, it is advisable to make the fabric slightly concave; this ensures the fabric is nicely taut and that you don’t have loose sides that flap. A straight fabric is possible but not preferred.
